plein air cottages

Painting plein air is really difficult, at least I find it really difficult. This painting was done of the little beach cottages at a resort in Koh Samed, Thailand. It’s supposed to capture the lovely pastel shades amongst the lush foliage, it doesn’t achieve any of that. I’m now trying to make a better painting of this now that I’m at home. It’ll be interesting to see how the indoors version compares to the plein air version !
