Wat Xienthong is an amazing, beautiful and fascinating temple in Luang Prabang. It has a beautiful sloping roof which sweeps down low before billowing out like wafted skirts. I tried to paint the Wat a couple of times, but my efforts were thoroughly unsuccessful. My paintings were flat, boring and they lacked any emotional expression of the beauty of this Wat. On my third attempt I decided not to sit and look at the wat, but try to paint it from my minds eye, from my imagination. I was much happier with the results! I think that this picture captures the power and beauty of the Wat, and I love the colours!
