Painting Pai

Pai is just the most delightful little town up in the hills on the Thai-Burmese border in Mae Hong Son province. I will always remember the 762 curves on the very windy road between Chiang Mai and Pai, and the wonderful temperature changes from early morning to midday (range from 12C to 30c).

I also enjoyed painting a few pictures whilst I was in Pai. I tried two different versions of the Pai Buddha (Wat Phrae That Men Yai). None of the paintings really turned out as I hoped, but then that’s the journey of the watercolourist. I still love the journey, even if it is windy, mazy and full of corners.
